DRDO, Indian Navy Complete Trials of Indigenous Air Droppable Container
DRDO and the Indian Navy conducted four successful in-flight release trials of the indigenous ADC-150 container, designed to deliver a 150-kg payload to naval vessels in distress at sea.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy jointly conducted four successful in-flight release trials of the indigenous Air Droppable Container ADC-150 from a P8I aircraft off the coast of Goa. The trials were carried out between Feb. 21 and March 1, 2026, under different extreme release conditions.
The ADC-150 is designed to deliver a 150-kilogram payload and is meant to enhance the Indian Navy's operational logistics, giving it a quick way to send critical stores, equipment and medical assistance to naval vessels in distress far out at sea.
The Ministry of Defence said the ADC-150 system for the P8I aircraft was developed and qualified in a short time frame to meet the Indian Navy's requirements. With all developmental flight trials now completed successfully, the system is expected to be inducted into the Indian Navy soon.
