NASA Chief Isaacman Says SpaceX Could Launch Starships Weekly by 2027
NASA administrator Jared Isaacman said SpaceX is on track to begin near-weekly Starship test launches heading into 2027, as the company also develops a lunar lander version of the rocket.
SpaceX could begin launching its Starship rocket system on a near-weekly basis by next year, according to Jared Isaacman, the head of NASA, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration. "I think you're going to start seeing Starships launch on a near weekly cadence going into 2027," Isaacman said on Fox News, adding that SpaceX is also working on a lunar lander version of the vehicle.
According to SpaceX's plans, Starship is designed to be a universal launch system that can be flown in different versions for crewed flights to low Earth orbit, launching satellites, and missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as to more distant destinations in the solar system.
Both the reusable and the Starship upper stage are designed to perform vertical landings so they can be flown again.
